Real-name, time-slotted booking at Wulingyuan: what international visitors must know

Peak season and public holidays run on timed slots, and without a booking you may not pass the gate. This guide covers booking portals, change rules and the most common failures.

Re-open your order the night before to confirm the slot, and carry the original document you booked with — a mismatch at the gate means no entry.

Why timed slots exist

During peak season, public holidays and summer, instant crowds at Wulingyuan and Tianmen Mountain exceed what the gates and cableways can process, so the parks run real-name, time-slotted entry: your booking is checked against the slot you bought, and turning up without one — or outside your slot — can mean being turned away.

Keep two things apart: ticket validity and entry slot. The Wulingyuan pass stays valid for four days with multiple re-entries, but the first check-in must happen inside your booked slot. Tianmen Mountain enforces morning/afternoon sessions strictly; crossing over is not allowed.

Booking online in four steps

Official channels are the park's WeChat account/mini-program plus major OTAs such as Ctrip and Meituan. Prices are the same; refund rules follow the checkout page.

  1. Pick the park, date and slot: Tianmen Mountain and the glass bridge need a morning or afternoon session.
  2. Enter real-name details: ID card for mainland residents, passport for international visitors; one document, one ticket per day.
  3. Pay online: WeChat Pay, Alipay and major bank cards; check foreign-card support in advance.
  4. Enter with your document: original document or QR code at the gate; children need the household register.

Changes and refunds

The general rule: before your slot starts and before check-in, you can refund or reschedule online through the original channel. Orders past their slot or already scanned are usually final. If the park closes because of storms, high winds or a cableway shutdown, full refunds or free rescheduling normally apply.

  • Rescheduling depends on availability; peak slots sell out fast.
  • Combo and discounted tickets may carry their own terms — read them before paying.
  • Refund arrival times vary; bank cards often take 1—7 working days.

Why bookings fail

  • Document already used: one document books one ticket per day, so buying for family members can collide.
  • Wrong document for child tickets: age is usually verified with the household register or birth certificate; height alone may not pass.
  • Passport mismatch: the name must match the order exactly — case and spaces both cause failures.
  • Rate limiting: cancelling repeatedly in a short window trips platform risk controls; try later or on another device.

If the gate rejects your code, stop re-scanning and go to the manual window at the visitor centre; it is usually sorted within five minutes.
