Planning essentials

Decide the core goal first — peak viewpoints, caves, the canyon or a city half-day — then choose where to stay.
Plan one main scenic area per day; transfers and queues take a lot of time.
On rainy days prefer caves and other indoor or sheltered stops.
Keep half a day of slack for weather, especially for photography trips.

Footwear and clothing
