Between the city and scenic areas
A common pattern: use Zhangjiajie city (Yongding District) as the transport hub, base yourself in Wulingyuan District for the core scenic area, and plan the Grand Canyon trip towards Cili County. Public transport, shuttle and in-park services between these nodes change by season — follow official and on-site notices.
Choosing where to stay
Wulingyuan District
Close to the core scenic area — spend your time on sightseeing.
Yongding District (city)
More transport and dining choice; good for arrival/departure days and Tianmen Mountain.
Towards Cili County
Cuts transfer time when the Grand Canyon is on the plan.
